URBI & ORBI Biennale de la photographie et de la ville
Christian Aschman and Raoul Ries in Sedan
Even two photographers from Luxembourg exhibit their works at this year’s edition of the French photography festival ‘URBI & ORBI Biennale de la photographie et de la ville’ in Sedan: Christian Aschman presents the body of work ‘État des lieux, états d'un lieu: Clervaux’ which at the same time is currently on display in Clervaux within the context of the season ‘North’. His images show nested compositions of urbanist activity. Strong contrasts, harmonious coexistence, audacious additions, functional templates and pastoral constructions.
At the invitation of Clervaux - cité de l'image and in cooperation with the Urbi & Orbi Festival, a new series was created by photographer Raoul Ries in Sedan. During his artist residency in spring 2021, Ries investigated questions about the density of the cityscape and the identity of the different neighbourhoods of Sedan. Titled ‘Sedan, jusqu’aux limites de la ville’, his work is also on display at the festival.
‘URBI & ORBI Biennale de la photography et de la ville’ celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2021 and dedicates the 11th edition to the topic ‘Tomber les murs’: 26 exhibitions at 9 locations in public space. Across the city of Sedan from 05/06 - 29/08/2021.
