THE RIVER ALWAYS FLOWS
Rivers are more than water in motion: they carve landscapes, sustain ecosystems, nurture communities and flow through memory and symbolism. In ancient myths they were seen as constellations traced across the earth. The people of the Amazon call them mirrors of the sky, carrying stars upon their surfaces.
This body of work belongs to my ongoing project about the River Sûre. I grew up beside the river and many of my family still live along its banks, its quiet presence woven into our daily lives.
These photographs were made through repeated visits to the same spot where I once sat reading as a child.
I imagine the river as a celestial being, its surface shimmering like distant galaxies, connecting the landscapes to the heavens, past to present.
A metaphor for the passage of time.
